The Guiding Mission and Evolving Vision of Porter’s Call
From the directive in the Rule of St. Benedict, we have derived the mission of Porter’s
Call. We exist to provide a welcoming relationship for recording artists
on their pilgrimage of life and faith. It is a safe and confidential
shelter where questions can be asked and answers explored; a place where
broken lives can be restored and healed; a place where God can be discovered
and encountered; a place where creative gifts can be deepened and enhanced.
We realize that it may be difficult to know how you can be a part of
this journey with Porter’s Call. We strive to offer to artists
nothing less than our very lives as a backdrop for all our counseling
and small groups. We often are
in the most honored place of seeing restoration and then hearing the
resulting creativity that emanates from a new place of understanding
one's story and God’s role in it. If you are an artist, we
hope that you will find your way to our door so that we can give a blessing
– receive a blessing—and proclaim, “Thanks be to God.” for what we each witness and learn in the process.
Here are some examples of how others have understood our vision
and mission.
This
ministry provides artists with what is not readily available
at record companies, management companies and booking agencies, and
that is a confidential and qualified place where artists can wrestle
though the mess of life and participate in a journey of healing and
wholeness. Many artists have sought wisdom and guidance at Porter's
Call and found it vital and invaluable.

Without Al's investment in my soul I would still be treading in raging
waters. Beyond the music is where reality waits for all of us, and I'm
so thankful that Al was there to pull me to shore.

After
15 years of working with Christian artists, I have never seen the kind
of impact and godly influence on their lives as I have after their times
with Al Andrews. Al's giftings seem to lie exactly in areas where creative
people struggle, and his work in our industry is making a huge difference
in the things that really matter. I give him my highest recommendation.

One of my greatest challenges as a pastor here in Nashville has been
working with members of the Christian music community – specifically
performing artists. For reasons we all know, it’s not easy for
them to admit they are hurting and it’s even more difficult for
them to find and then access adequate help for that hurt. In this regard,
our partnership Al Andrews and Porter’s Call has been a gift from
God. He is making a profound difference.

In my life, Al is an invaluable resource in the struggle to unite my
calling, my marriage, my family, the arts, and the Gospel, as a mentor,
counselor and friend.

Porters Call is Al's way of being available to those of us in the artistic
community who are asking questions. Artists need to find the answers
to their own questions in order to establish, grow, and maintain the
connections both relational and spiritual that fuel their art. Al is
helping me to wake up, be brave and do the work that God has put before
me. I can't wait to see what happens.

Never
before have I seen greater needs in the lives of the artists I work
with every day. It is overwhelming at times. I am thankful for the support
you have given in providing professional help to artists. It is working!
Many artists and their families are finally getting the help they need
because of the efforts of the Al Andrews and Porter’s Call.
